TAJDID understands that USAID-Tijara’s Iraqi

Youth Initiative is designed as a contributor to the Iraq National Development Strategy (NDS) and integrates the NDS principles into its approaches and client services.

It also adheres to USAID policy on capacity building for the strengthening of local institutions, transfer of technical skills and promotion of appropriate policies

This program is an innovative combination of institutional resources designed to ensure that young clients benefit from an effective, holistic approach. The program is developed specifically to generate employment opportunities at the maximum possible rate.

The objectives of the Iraqi Youth Initiative are to be achieved through the implementation of program activities utilizing the Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) and Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) supported under the USAID-Tijara project.

The Iraqi Youth Initiative aims to create job opportunities for Iraqi youth as follows:

1. Building the capacity of youth to establish businesses.
2. Facilitating access to financial services.
3. Qualifying youth for gainful employment.

It’s expected that with USAID-Tijara grant funds, TAJDID will be able to contribute to the following Iraqi

Youth Initiative impact and outcomes in Baghdad:

– Up to 150 youth shall complete business entrepreneurship training.

– A minimum 75 youth will receive microfinance business startup loans
